Getting to Mount Aso

  • By Public Transport

Nearest City: Kumamoto

Transportation: From Kumamoto Station, there are numerous ways of getting there. If you have a JR pass, the best way to get there is to take the Aso Boy station which enables you to get a great view from the panoramic views from the train and will take roughly 1.5 hours. If you do not have the pass and tight on budget, you can take the local train to You can also take the train to JR Aso station and take a bus which will take you to the Nakadake Crater, one of the sights on Mount Aso. Note, the trains and busses running are not many so make sure to check the schedule beforehand.
