Designated as a UNESCO world heritage site, Yakushima island is considered one of the best places in Japan where nature is pristinely preserved. With 90% of the island being covered by forest, many of the cedar trees on the island are over 1000 years old, and the oldest ones dating back 2000 to 7000 thousand years, it is worth taking the time to visit the island if you are an avid nature lover and have some time in Japan. The only downside is, the island can only be accessed from Kagoshima either by plane or a ferry, which is somewhat of a distance from Tokyo or Osaka. However, if you take the right set of flights, if you take a flight from Haneda airport around 6, it will enable you to get there by 9 if you take flight from Kagoshima. the ferry takes longer for you to get there so if youre short in time, we would recommend that you take a flight from kagoshima.

We absolutely agree that the Japanese language is not an easy language to master.
